Curriculum Vitae for Keith Murray

BIOGRAPHY
Keith Murray is a transdisciplinary artist/writer/curator working predominantly with make-up, costume, film, video, new media, as well as through various streams of movement based performance. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Keith is an advocate for developing culture and building community in this place called home. Graduating with a BFA in Media Arts and Digital Technologies from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2004, Keith was the Student Choice Award recipient and Graduation Speaker.  Keith has kept a stiletto in the doors of many local arts organizations, and in 2005, EMMEDIA Gallery and Production Society nominated Keith for the Calgary Professional Arts Alliance Emerging Artist award. Since 2003, Keith has programmed and created work for Calgary’s Fairy Tales International Queer Film Festival. Keith has screened work as part of the Calgary International Film Festival, as well as at international festivals and conferences. Keith’s animated-dance performance, transcriptions was recently presented through Springboard Dance’s Fluid Motion Arts Festival. A long standing member of the Flat Earth Society, Keith was recently awarded an Honorary membership with the Machine Sex Action Group, for his electro dance convulsions at the Banff centre for the arts. Keith currently works at Quickdraw Animation Society as the Programming Coordinator; he also wears the hat of Festival Director for Quickdraw’s GIRAF independent Animation Festival. Keith just recently returned from Las Vegas a married man/woman, where none other than the King, Elvis performed the ceremony as part of his exhibit “Trannylicious Dishez,” at the grand opening of Harry Mohney’s Erotic Heritage Museum. Spending a dreamy honeymoon in Japan, Keith presented Animations from Calgary at the Hiroshima Animation Biennale, returning home to co-star in local songstress Danielle French’s latest music video.  Keith is currently collaborating on a theatre project with the Green Fools, as well as creating new work for his upcoming solo exhibition at TRUCK Contemporary Art Gallery in 2009.
