My thought on world peace is this: Not generally possible. Now, before you react to this, hear out my reasoning. In order for true peace to be accomplished, everyone would have to basically agree, right? Because if they didn't, people would start fights over everything they don't agree on. And, of course, if everyone agreed on the same thing, if everyone had the same oppinion, where would we be? That's not happening. Now, there are two things that could happen where near-peace could be accomplished: One, all of humanity joining together to fight a common enemy (like in movies) or compromise. World compromise is possible, though not near it... So.. Any oppinions, either opposing or agreeing?

While you can never expect people to agree about everything - world peace is possible if we could learn to respect people's differences. It seems to be the "my way or the highway" attitude that escalates disagreement to confrontation and beyond. Sometimes we just need to agree to disagree. When people feel really strongly about things then it becomes personal. Conflicting ideologies cross personalities and borders.

As much as it is a nice thought, world peace is virtually unachieveable. That's because world peace would equal a utopia and that will never happen. Here's why...

The history of civilization is basically an uphill battle. There are so many negative things in the world including war and oppression because human nature is essentially negative. As long as humans exist there will always be hate and greed because it is easier to hate than love and easier to be greedy than to share or care about something. Admit it. We've all been there. The important thing is to fight those negative feelings and overcome them, but that is hard work. It is those people who take the time to care and do that who make a difference in the world, but they are the minority. However, without that minority to fight for those positive values, the world would be in a terrible state. Therefore, even though people dedicate their lives to equality, justice and an end to conflict, this will never be fully achieved, but without them our world would not be worth living in.
